Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 27, 2026

LookBookIQ (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides an AI-powered fashion styling application (the “App”) and a marketing website at lookbookiq.app (the “Website”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the App or visit the Website.

We are committed to a privacy-first approach. You can use the core features of the App without creating an account, and your personal data is stored on your own device and your own Apple iCloud account — not on our servers.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information Stored on Your Device and iCloud

The App stores your wardrobe items, outfit data, preferences, and other personal content locally on your device. If you enable iCloud sync on your Apple device, this data is also synchronised across your devices via your personal Apple iCloud account. This synchronisation does not require a LookBookIQ account. We do not have access to, and cannot read, modify, or delete, data stored in your iCloud account. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

1.2 Account Information (Optional)

If you choose to create an account — for example, to access credit-based features such as virtual try-on or photo enhancement — we collect only the minimum information required:

  • Email address
  • Hashed password (if you register with email) or an authentication token (if you sign in with Apple)
  • Basic profile information you voluntarily provide

1.3 Images Submitted for AI Processing

When you use features such as visual product search, virtual try-on, or product photo enhancement, the images you submit are temporarily uploaded to our servers for processing. These images are stored only for the duration necessary to complete the request and are automatically and permanently deleted within 24 hours via an automated cleanup process.

1.4 Website Analytics

Our Website uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused, GDPR-compliant analytics service. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track users across websites. All data is aggregated and no individual visitor can be identified.

1.5 Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not use cookies on our Website or in our App.
  • We do not track you across third-party websites or apps.
  • We do not collect location data, device identifiers, or advertising IDs.
  • We do not collect data from minors (see Section 8).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect exclusively to provide, maintain, and improve the services you request:

  • To authenticate your account and manage your session
  • To process images through AI-powered features (virtual try-on, photo enhancement)
  • To manage your service credits
  • To send transactional emails (password reset, account verification) via our email provider
  • To respond to your support requests

We do not use your personal information, images, or any other data to train, fine-tune, or improve any artificial intelligence or machine learning models — whether our own or those of any third party.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

To deliver our services, we share limited data with the following third-party providers, each acting as a data processor on our behalf:

We use the paid tier of the Google Gemini API, which, under Google’s API terms of service, means your data is not used by Google to train or improve their models. Groq similarly does not use API inputs for model training. We contractually require all processors to handle your data in accordance with applicable data protection law.

4. Data Storage and International Transfers

LookBookIQ is operated from Switzerland. Our infrastructure is hosted on Cloudflare and Neon, which may process and store data in Switzerland, the European Economic Area (EEA), and the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside Switzerland or the EEA, we rely on legally recognised transfer mechanisms, including the Swiss–US Data Privacy Framework, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and Standard Contractual Clauses, to ensure an adequate level of protection for your data.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Images submitted for AI processing are temporarily stored and automatically deleted within 24 hours.
  • Account data is retained for as long as you maintain an active account.
  • When you delete your account (available in the App’s account settings), all data associated with your account — including your profile, credit history, and any stored files — is immediately and permanently deleted from our servers with no retention period.
  • iCloud data that was synced to your Apple iCloud account is managed by Apple and remains under your control. We cannot delete data from your iCloud account. To remove this data, please manage it through your Apple device settings.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS) for all communications
  • Encryption at rest for stored data
  • Passwords are cryptographically hashed and never stored in plain text
  • Per-user rate limiting to prevent abuse
  • Automated daily cleanup of temporarily stored images

While no system can guarantee absolute security, we continuously review and improve our security practices.

7. Your Rights

7.1 Rights Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data (which you can also do directly by deleting your account)
  • Restriction — request that we limit processing of your data
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time

Our legal basis for processing your data is the performance of our contract with you (providing the services you request). Where applicable, we may also rely on your consent or our legitimate interests in operating and improving our services.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

7.2 Rights Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights:

  • Right to Know — request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected
  • Right to Delete — request deletion of your personal information
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale — we do not sell your personal information to any third party
  • Right to Non-Discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 10.

8. Age Restrictions

The App and our services are not directed at, and are not intended for, individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a person under 16, we will promptly delete that information. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via the App or by email. Your continued use of the App or Website after a revised policy becomes effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
